Not every client needs every section. You can switch sections off, put the most important ones first, and choose a positive-only version of the report. These settings are saved per client and apply to every date range.
Hide or show a section
- Open the client's report. Every section heading has a switch on the right, labelled Shown.
- Click the switch. The label changes to Hidden and the section is saved as hidden for this client straight away.
- Switch it back any time. Click it again to show the section to the client.
On your own report view, a hidden section folds down to just its heading, marked Hidden, so you can switch it back on any time.
What hidden means for clients
A hidden section is left out of everything the client sees:
- new shared reports you create with Share report
- the client's live report link
- PDF downloads
Its chart data is left out of the client's page too, not just hidden from view. Reports you shared earlier are frozen, so they keep the sections they had when you shared them.
Some sections only appear when there's data for them. For example, Keyword movement needs a comparison period and Goals needs goals. You don't need to hide those by hand when they're empty.
Change the order of sections
- Find the arrows. Next to each section's switch are two arrows: Move up and Move down.
- Click an arrow. The section swaps places with the one above or below it, and the new order is saved for this client.
- Repeat until it reads well. The section numbers update to match the new order.
The order applies to your view, the live link, new shared reports and PDFs. A section that has no data for a client keeps its place and shows up there once it has data.
Make a positive-only report
Some clients only want to see progress. The positive-only setting leaves out what went backwards.
- Open Edit client. Click Edit in the report toolbar.
- Find Report settings. It's in the side column, above Save changes (below the form on smaller screens).
- Switch on Positive-only report. Then click Save changes.
With positive-only on, the report:
- drops keywords and pages that lost position or clicks, and landing pages and top pages with fewer visits
- leaves out the Keywords to recover and Keywords to win back lists, so Keyword movement shows gains and new keywords
- hides every ▼ change and the "vs" previous figure on metrics that went down
Gains, steady results and the Focus for next period items stay. Your team sees exactly the client's version, with a Positive-only report note at the top saying how many rows were left out and a Change this link. The client's card on the dashboard gets a Positive only tag. Reports shared earlier keep their frozen numbers.
Reuse a layout for other clients
Once a client's report is set up the way you like, save it as a layout template on the Templates page and apply it to other clients. A template copies the section order, shown and hidden sections and the positive-only setting. When you have templates, Edit client also shows an Apply a template menu under Report settings that applies one when you save. See Report themes and templates.
Check the result the way your client will see it by opening their live link. See The live link and report library.
