Report themes and templates

The Templates page in the sidebar has two tools: report themes, which change how a client's reports look, and layout templates, which copy one client's report setup to others.

The eight report themes

A theme sets the colours of the report cover, pages and charts. Your logo and agency name stay on every theme.

  • Classic: your brand colours, a dark cover and light pages.
  • Minimal: all white, black type and thin lines. Calm and print friendly.
  • Midnight: deep navy pages with glowing cyan charts.
  • Graphite: charcoal pages with sharp lime accents.
  • Ocean: a blue to teal cover with fresh, airy pages.
  • Sunset: a warm coral to amber cover with soft peach pages.
  • Forest: deep green to emerald, calm and natural.
  • Royal: a violet to pink cover for bold, premium reports.

Midnight and Graphite are dark themes: their pages and PDFs are dark, so they use your logo for dark backgrounds when you've uploaded one. Minimal has a light cover, so it shows your regular logo there. Only Classic uses your own accent and dark colours; the others have their own palettes.

Preview a theme

  1. Click Preview on a theme card. A sample report opens with generated data, shown the way clients see it.
  2. Compare themes. Click the coloured dots at the top to switch between themes. PDF downloads the sample so you can check the printed look.
  3. Click Use this theme. You go back to the Templates page with that theme selected.

Apply a theme to clients

  1. Select a theme. Click its card in the Report themes gallery.
  2. Tick the clients. Under Use the selected theme for, each client shows its current theme, with "default" when it follows the agency default.
  3. Make it the default (owners). Owners can also tick Make it the default for clients without their own theme.
  4. Click Apply theme. The theme applies to those clients' live links, new shared reports and PDFs.

Reports you shared earlier keep the theme they were shared with. Owners can also set the default on the Branding page; see Set up your branding.

Set one client's theme

Open Edit client and use the Report theme menu under Report settings. Agency default follows your agency's theme; any other choice gives this client its own. Click Save changes. The See all themes link opens the gallery.

Save a layout template

A layout template copies a client's report setup: the section order, which sections are shown or hidden, the positive-only setting, and the client's own theme if it has one.

  1. Set up one client's report. Move and hide sections on their report until it reads well. See Show, hide and reorder sections.
  2. Go to Templates. Find the New template card.
  3. Pick the client. Choose them under From the report of.
  4. Name it and save. Enter a Template name, such as "Local business, monthly", and click Save template.

Each saved template lists its sections in order, marks hidden ones and shows a Positive only tag when that's switched on.

Apply a layout template

  1. Tick the clients. Under Apply to on the template's card, tick each client.
  2. Click Apply template. Their reports take on the template's layout.

Applying a template doesn't touch a client's data, notes or goals. You can also pick one in Edit client with Apply a template, which applies it when you save. To delete a template, click the bin icon on its card and confirm; clients keep their current layout.

Good to know

Every team member can apply themes and templates to clients. Only owners can change the agency's default theme.
