Every report can be saved as a real A4 PDF file, ready to attach to an email or print. The PDF is built in your browser from the report on your screen, so it matches what you see, in the report's theme and with your agency's branding.
Download a PDF of a report
- Open the client's report. Go to Clients and open the report.
- Set it up the way you want it. Choose the dates and comparison, switch off any sections you don't want, and edit the summary if you like.
- Click PDF in the toolbar. The button changes to Preparing PDF… for a few seconds while the pages are built.
Your browser then downloads the file straight away. The file name is the client's name plus the report title or dates.
Your clients can do the same. Shared reports and the live link have a Download PDF button at the top, so clients can keep their own copy. See Share a report.
What the PDF looks like
- A4 pages with smart page breaks. Pages are cut between sections, cards and table rows, never through the middle of a chart. Headings stay with the content below them, and cards that sit side by side stay together.
- A footer on every page with the client and report name on the left and "Page 1 of 6" style numbering on the right.
- The report's theme colours. Charts, covers and accents use the client's theme. Dark themes, like Midnight and Graphite, give a dark PDF with the whole page coloured to match. Read more in Report themes and templates.
- Logos. Your agency logo and the client's logo on the cover are included.
What's included and what's left out
- Hidden sections are left out. Any section switched to Hidden doesn't appear in the PDF. See Show, hide and reorder sections.
- Your edits are included. If you rewrote the executive summary on the page, the PDF has your version, even though the edit isn't saved anywhere else.
- Your notes are included when you've written some. Empty notes and an empty Work completed section are left out.
- Editing tools are left out. Section switches, move arrows, buttons, filters and messages meant only for your team don't appear.
- Tables print as they are on screen. A long table shows its first rows unless you expand it first.
Want every row of a long table in the PDF? Click the Show all link under the table before you click PDF.
Chart notes marked for your team only are always left out of PDFs, even when you download from your own report view. The client's notes are numbered 1, 2, 3 in the PDF, just like on their own links.
If the PDF won't build
The PDF tools load when you first click the button. If your browser or network blocks them, you're asked whether to open the print dialog instead. Choose Save as PDF as the printer there to still get a file.
